Moira and Adrian Rees are looking for an enthusiastic agriculturally minded person to join them for 6-12+ months on their dairy farm in NW Tasmania. During the previous calving season, some new and recently graduated students joined them from various UK colleges and following on from this very positive experience they would like to provide a unique opportunity for someone else to come to work and learn with them.

Before emigrating to Australia two years ago Adrian farmed in Pembrokeshire, Wales for many years on his own 300 cow聽farm. Moira currently works as a full time Vet in mixed practice and worked in Carmarthenshire for several years, so they have a good understanding of both systems.

Moira and Adrian are currently 50:50 share farming, milking 750 cows on the north west coast of Tasmania in an extensive spring calving system, NZ style. Calving starts in August with a ten-week calving block. The position would start in July, but an earlier start can be accommodated. This role would include all aspects of dairy farming; milking, bale feeding, calf rearing, disbudding and carry out their own breeding programs and AI. The Farm Auditor will carry out Glenrath Farm's assessment on both company and contracted farms within own region on a six-monthly basis to establish compliance levels against the BEIC Lion code (both subscriber and self-audit), RSPCA, TESCO, M&S, McDonalds, as well as any other retail or brand compliance that may arise and environmental sustainability. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring all non-conformances are logged, actioned, and resolved within agreed timeframes.

The successful applicant will conduct Glenrath Farm's assessment at least twice annually within other regions as defined by the Agriculture Systems and Standards Manager to ensure the process is maintained on a transparent and consistent basis. Feedback and challenge on audit requirements and practices to be reported to the Agriculture Systems and Standards Manager to support the continuous improvement of Glenrath Farm's farms assessment process.

The role is day shift, Monday to Friday with Flexitime available. Pay is negotiable on application.
